An Interactive School Assembly for Grades K-2
This interactive solo play tells the story of a young boy born without his right hand who discovers that the very thing that makes him different also makes him extraordinary. Through humor, storytelling, and full audience participation students become characters in the story, making sounds and joining the adventure, and young children learn that being different is not a deficit. It is a distinction.
- Everyone is different, and different is not a problem
- People who look different still feel the same things we feel
- Standing up for others who are treated unfairly is the right thing to do
- Your unique qualities are something to be proud of
Recommended grades: K-2 | Running time: 45-55 minutes
Format: High-energy interactive solo performance with audience participation

“Among 600 children, only two had to be excused. As one first grader was leaving she told her teacher, ‘I was scared at first but then he told us the story and I understood. He is SO cool!’”
– Assistant Principal, Peter Noyes School, Sudbury MA
“David was absolutely wonderful as both a person and performer. The kids of all ages remained completely engaged and were filled with thoughtful questions at the end of his performance. Such a gift!”
– PTO Representative, Bates Elementary
